VIRAL: Bank Robber Turned into Singer Inmate Music Video Produced Inside Bilibid Prison!

Herbert “Ampang” Colangco, one of the 19 high-profile inmates and was the leader of the notorious Waray-Waray and Ozamiz bank robbery gangs was now probably another Youtube sensation in the making. Colangco had been jailed in the national penitentiary since 2009, and just recently was found by Department of Justice Secretary, Leila de Lima to be among those who were living lavish lifestyles inside the Bilibid prison. By it seems, the bank robber has aspirations to be a singer, in spite the fact that he is supposed to be living life as a convict inside the New Bilibid Prison‘s maximum security compound. The notorious leader’s kubol in the penitentiary was found to be furnished with a generator-powered 60-sq. meter music studio complete with a stage for live musical performances. He even recorded five songs which were created by the noted composer Edith Gallardo. This was just a proof that even behind bars, no one can stop him. However, it can’t be said in an instant that he and his group was still operating and continued their criminal activities beyond the cell bars. Together with other Bilibid VIPs, Colangco was transferred to the NBI headquarters in Manila after the raid by the DOJ secretary’s team. The Department of Justice has their hands full with much-needed investigation regarding the latest discovery of mysterious amenities in the New Bilibid Prison. This video was one of his recordings and made it to Youtube in May. Watch it below: Colangco shared his insight about having his own band in the blog entitled “On Robbing Banks and Feeding People” where the author tackled the bank robbery leader’s dreams: “In a small corner of the prison camp, I organized a musical band. I am fond of music. I used to sing. I was actually a frustrated musician before I started to be a gangster. I could revive my interest, draw attention and notice to those who wanted to watch my career in small scale showbiz…”
