NEWS: “DOTA” Banned In Barangay Salawag, Dasmariñas Cavite

Online games are indeed addictive especially to the teens nowadays. As an example of such is the never-ending game Defense of the Ancients or known as “DOTA”, wherein an individual player controls a character with unique abilities and creates a team of 5 to battle with a different team. Though, numerous cases of violence had been reported involving the given game. Due to its bad effect to the youth which involves illegal activities and gambling, Barangay Council of Salawag in Dasmariñas, Cavite issued “Resolution 008-S-2015” last January 5, 2015 as stated below: “KAPASIYAHAN NA NAGBABAWAL NG PAGLALARO NG “DOTA” (DEFENSE OF THE ANCIENTS) ONLINE O OFFLINE SA MGA INTERNET/COMPUTER SHOP NA SAKOP NG BARANGAY SALAWAG” Chances of violence include a possibility for teenagers to kill or be killed. As a record, two teenagers were stabbed to death on the area all because of the game, another reason why the authorities decided to ban DOTA. Violation of the above Resolution 008-S-2015 involves: First Offense: Suspension of shop operations for a month. Second Offense: Revocation of business permit. Third Offense: Permanent closure of computer shop and non-issuance of business permit. There is also a motion to ban the game “DOTA” in the whole city of Dasmariñas in the coming months.
