NBI arrests fugitive Jovito Palparan in Manila – Inquirer

Fugitive retired Army Maj. Gen. Jovito Palparan was arrested by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation early Tuesday, a radio report said. Palparan, who was named one of five high-profile fugitives by President Aquino in August 2012, was nabbed in his hideout in Sta. Mesa, Manila, the report said. Aquino had offered a P2-million reward for his arrest, along with former Palawan Gov. Joel Reyes and his brother, former Coron Mayor Mario Reyes, former Dinagat Island Rep. Ruben Ecleo Jr. and Globe Asiatique developer Delfin Lee, who was arrested by police Task Force Tugis on March 7, 2014. Labeled “The Butcher” by political activists, Palparan went into hiding in December 2011 when he was ordered arrested by the regional trial court in Malolos, Bulacan province, in connection with the 2006 abduction of University of the Philippines students Sherlyn Cadapan and Karen Empeño.
