MRT 3 train derailed and crashes into barrier at Taft Station | Video | Pictures

(MRT-3) train went past its barriers at the terminal Taft station Wednesday, August 13, injuring several passengers and causing a post to fall over a car. DOTC-MRT3 issued an advisory on its official Twitter account, citing a “technical problem.” “Advisory: We are currently undergoing necessary intervention for the technical problem encountered. We apologize for the inconvenience TY,” it tweeted at around 4:27 pm. In an interview over dzBB, MRT spokesperson Hernando Cabrera said the train allegedly came to a halt between the Magallanes and Taft stations due to technical problems. It had to be pushed by another train as it had no power, Cabrera said, adding that passengers were trapped in the troubled train as there was no safe exit for them. “Ang naging problema po natin, nakalas po iyong cable na nakakabit dun sa tren,” Cabrera said. The uncontrolled train, he added, continued to move until it hit the barrier at Taft. Passengers hurt in the accident have reportedly been rushed to the San Juan De Dios Hospital and the Pasay City General Hospital. In this video, passengers vacate the derailed carriage:
