Filipino featherweight Bernabe Concepcion promised to give his best performance when he meets unbeaten Mexican boxer Mikey Garcia this weekend. Concepcion, who lost three of his last five bouts, sees Garcia as a key to bigger fights in the future. “I am glad that I was given this opportunity to fight a great fighter like Mikey Garcia,” he said in Examiner.com. Garcia is the younger brother of Robert Garcia, the boxing trainer of Nonito Donaire Jr. Concepcion, a native of Catanduanes, has already had two opportunities at a world title. In 2009, he lost to then WBO featherweight champion Steve Luevano after being disqualified for hitting his opponent after the bell. A year later, he was close to winning the same title after knocking down Juan Manuel Lopez in the first round. Lopez, however, stopped him in the succeeding round to retain the WBO crown. Concepcion sees Garcia as an opportunity to get back on track to a world title fight. “For that I am preparing for this fight to be the best that I can be,” he said. Concepcion will be fighting Garcia in the undercard of the Lopez versus Orlando Salido rematch. The fight will take place at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in Puerto Rico this Saturday. It will be aired on Sunday in the Philippines on Studio 23 at 2 p.m. In this EsNewsReporting video we talk to Mikey Garcia about his upcoming fight vs Bernabe Conception
