New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin took time out of his All Star Weekend break to tweet Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao, telling him “Thanks for the love! Huge fan of yours!” Pacquiao then replied to Lin, telling him, “Jeremy, you make us all proud.”Lin’s tweet came in response to Pacquiao tweeting out, “Jeremy Lin has stepped up just in the Knick of time. He is a great player” last February 13. Interestingly enough, a day after Pacquiao’s tweet, rival boxer Floyd Mayweather sent out his take on the Taiwanese-American, saying on his Twitter account “Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he’s Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don’t get the same praise.” A day later, Pacquiao tweeted out “God bless Jeremy Lin,” presumably in response to Mayweather. Mayweather’s feelings drew heavy criticism as being racist, with UFC president Dana White, among others, replying critically to the boxer known as “Money.” Pacquiao and Lin were supposed to meet last week, but scheduling problems prevented the two iconic Asian sportsmen from being in the same room.
