Ex-PBA Player Bryan Gahol Dies

A former Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) cager and his companion reportedly died from a multiple-vehicle road accident along South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) north-bound lane on Monday night. The accident happened under the Skyway heading towards Alabang, according to responding authorities. Bryan Gahol, who suffered fatal injuries along with his companion, Rosemarie Manalo, were taken to the hospital but were declared dead on arrival. According to the Philippine National Police- Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG), Gahol was driving a Nissan Urvan on the way to Quezon City from Laguna to attend a wake when the tragic accident happened at around 10 p.m. Monday. Initial reports said a delivery jeep carrying vegetables hit a trailer truck that bumped into Gahol’s Nissan Urvan. Gahol’s vehicle reportedly overturned from the impact before hitting another car. Bryan Gahol is former UP Fighting Maroons collegiate player in the UAAP before he was drafted to the professional basketball league. He had a stint in the PBA playing for Mobiline, Alaska, San Miguel and Red Bull teams. The recent accident follows a series of vehicle mishap in SLEX, the most notable of which was an crash last year involving a Don Mariano Transit bus that killed 22 passengers in the early morning hours of December 16 after falling off the skyway in Taguig City.
