Weather Bulletin Number FOUR Tropical Cyclone Warning: Tropical Depression “AGATON” Issued at 5:00 a.m., Saturday 18 January 2014 Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate – heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression. Tropical Depression “AGATON” will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms over Central Visayas and the rest of Eastern Visayas. Sea travel is risky over the seaboards of Luzon and Visayas. The public and the disaster risk reduction and management councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11am today. Public Storm Warning Signals Signal #1: Southern Leyte, Surigao del Norte incl. Siargao Is., Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Province, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Davao Oriental and Compostella Valley. Synopsis: At 4:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression “AGATON”was estimated based on all available data at 170 km northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur or 175 km east of Surigao City (9.7°N 127.1°E). Northeast Monsoon affecting Luzon. Forecast: Caraga region and the provinces of Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley and Southern Leyte will have rains with gusty winds with moderate to rough seas. Central and the rest of Eastern Visayas will experience cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Northern Mindanao and Davao del Norte will be cloudy with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms. Palawan and the rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be cloudy with light rains. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and coming from the northeast to northwest over Mindanao. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough.
