Wardrobe Malfunction? Fil-Am SEA Games Athletes Wearing the Inverted PH Flag!

Used as an identity of group of people, a uniform can also be a representation of a nation. However, the Philippine athletes at the recent SEA Games wore their uniform in a way which actually represents the country incorrectly. eric_shauwn_cray-e1433919021922 Eric Shauwn Cray and Kayla Anise Richardson, both Filipino-American SEA Games athletes made news not only because they won gold medals in their respective 100-meter events but also because of the controversial Philippine flag sewn inaccurately on their uniforms. When the red side of the flag is up, it means that the country is at war. According to ABS-CBN and the Inquirer, officials say it was just a wardrobe malfunction. Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) chief, Philip Ella Juico said it was an error from the supplier. “The inverted Philippine flag is a supplier error which is being corrected. It was stitched on in just a few competition uniforms.” Even the presidential spokeswoman, Abigail Valte also clarified that it was just an oversight: “It must have been an oversight, which I am certain they will correct once brought to their attention.” INSET-Kayla-Anise-Richardson2-6915
