How would you feel if your boyfriend proposed to you with a ring made out of a body part? Some limb, which has been removed from your partner’s body? Sounds crazy? It’s natural to received expensive diamond but this one? Peculiar! Crazy but it did happen. Mike Perrett, lost his right leg after he fell off a mountain while volunteering for an orphanage in India in 2006. His limb was so badly damaged that it was surgically removed. But instead of disposing of the amputated leg, he asked the medical team if he could keep a part of his bone. They gave him a portion of the shin bone. Five years had passed and Mike felt the urge to take his relationship with his long-time girlfriend, Melita to another level. He asked Ingle & Rhode, a jeweler from England, to design an engagement ring and put the pieces of his bone into it making a very special ring to surprise his girlfriend! An outstanding ring made of platinum with a quarter-carat diamond and studded with a couple of Mike’s bones on each side: Bone pieces were completely sterilized when they were incorporated into the ring, says a spokeswoman for Ingle & Rhode. And the answer is nothing but a sweet “YES.” “I guess why it’s so special to me is because I think it shows his bravely coming to terms with something like that so positively… which has to be a good attribute for marriage,” Melita said. And in November 2011, the couple tied the knot on a beautiful beach in the Philippines.
