“Devil-worshipping hairstyles are now forbidden.” Spiky, jagged, devil-worshipping haircuts as well as tattooing and other effeminized fashion trends for men including eyebrow-plucking and sun-tanning are banned, declared by the Iran Union. The spiky, “devil-worshipping” haircuts have been a popular trend among the Iranian youth in the recent years. However, these trendy hairstyles are considered unorthodox and un-Islamic and are said to imply devil-worship. Licenses will be revoked from barber shops that would violate the rule. The head of Iran’s barber union, Mostafa Gohavi stated that barbershops who offer to customers these kinds of hairstyles will be dealt with accordingly. Promotion of such hairstyle is considered to be violating the Islamic system’s regulations. A catalog of approved hairstyles for men has even published by the ministry of culture, RT News announced. Even ponytails and mullets are also not allowed in the country. Though, use of hair gel in modest amount is still acceptable.
