Christopher Lao : The Guy Who Wasn’t Informed of the Floods – Becomes Twitter Worldwide Trending Topic, Facebook HitWhat more could Christopher ask for, you ask? Well, if I were in his shoes, I’d wish for these online achievements to be all for the right reasons. You see, a lot of Pinoys in social networking sites are slamming Christopher for what he did yesterday, following the heavy rains and flooding brought by Typhoon Kabayan: In an act that baffled and perhaps shocked everyone who witnessed it, Christopher bravely drove his car to what appeared to be waist-high floods. And as the laws of Physics – specifically those related to Bouyancy and Properties of Water – would have it, his sedan (which turned out to be not amphibious after all) fell victim to the waters. A GMA 7 news report aired yesterday showed Mr. Lao’s Nissan Exalta stalling midway, after he attempted to navigate a severely-flooded portion of Mother Ignacia street in Quezon City. Bystanders then pushed the car past the flood, with water leaking out of the Nissan’s door seams. That’s when GMA reporter Jun Veneracion approached Christopher. Below is a transcript of the informal interview: Lao: I think this a problem with the traffic enforcers as well, for example the MMDA, because they should have already blocked the road. Veneracion: Hindi mo ba alam na ganun ka siyang malalim? Lao: Wala! Kasi tingnan mo oh, who will tell me, who will tell me? Really? Did you guys even tell me? Did, did anyone tell—Wala! Nobody even stopped! Nobody informed! It’s like, people were waiting for someone to just do that. Veneracion: Pero hindi mo ba na-realize na malalim? Lao: Why do you info—why do i—Bakit ako? Diba? (laughs ironically) Dapat i-inform, i-inform, I should have been informed, yun lang yun.
